For 5 innings Wakefield looked real sharp. Then all of a sudden the roof caved in. The first three run homer the guy golfed a low pitch out. You can't always throw a good pitch and get a guy out. But then Wake proceeded to give up two more hits and another three run dinger. All this happened with two outs.
Wakefield has been prone to the long ball his whole career. What hurts is giving up the second three run homer. Wake has been solid for the most part, no sense beating him up.
Johnny hit a home run and Adam Stern got his first ML homer, a two run shot in the ninth. But it was too little too late.
Johnny came out of the game early with stiff muscles. He's says he's tired and worn out. He's not playing that way, though. A day off may do wonders, but we can't afford to be without this guy too long.
We got Miller going tonight. Hopefully he can get a quality start. The guy he's facing has an equally lame ERA of about 5, so strap your hard hats on in the bleachers tonight because there may be a lot of action out there.
