| 8/12/05: Papi Brings the WoodRed Sox 9 - White Sox 8
Papi brought down the house last night. He was in a bit of a slump coming off the break, but was looking better in the last week or so. Last night he let loose. He went 4 for 5, two homers, 6 RBI. And we ended up needing every bit of it.
The White Sox scored 7 or their eight runs with two out. They got to Wells for two in the first and second innings. David was not that bad, just those two out hits hurt. He threw nearly 75% strikes. That's unreal. Needless to say he didn't hurt himself with walks. Wells pretty mush deserved the W, and I appreciate the way we kept us in the game even when he was feeling sick all day prior to his start.
Buehrle cruised threw the first two, but as has been the Sox M.O. this season being down 4-0 is nothing. We got to him in the third for a couple, one in forth and two in the fifth. The big hits were Papi's blast into the Monster seats and Teks go ahead shot over everything in left.
The pen did a nice job until the ninth. Papi had hit a blast into the centerfield bleachers in the 8th to make it 9-5. Schill came in and got the first two quickly, then gave up a solo shot and a two run homer before striking out the last batter on a rare curve ball.
Buehrle is one of the best in the league, and we pounded him for 12 hits. And Chicago's pen is as good as anyone's and we got to them. This lineup is just unbelievable. Every starter had a least one hit.
Normally I'll good pitching over good hitting any day, but the Sox are just too good right now.
Hope Timmy can keep it going today.
