| 9/6/05: Papi, Wake Sharp in WinRed Sox 3 - Angles 2
Wake pitched a complete game beauty. He was sharp and managed to get out of the few tough spots he got into. But it would have gone for naught had it not been for Big Papi.
The Sox squandered several scoring opportunities, including men on first and second with no out in the seventh and did not score. We scored twice in the fifth with only one hit and a combo of walks and wild pitches. LAA got one each in the sixth and seventh, but could of had more.
We got past Lackey who was sharp other than the 5th. Shields comes in and is throwing gas. But Shields put one belt high to Papi and he unloaded it deep into the right field bleachers. What a shot.
Johnny, banged up and all, got three hits. Mueller, Manny and Olerud made great plays on defense. It was a solid night all around.
The Yankees managed to lose their game in the ninth, so all is right with the world.
