Red Sox 12 – Phillies 8

This was a wild one. The day was blistering hot and hardly fit for a man to be out there playing baseball for 3 hours plus. We jumped all over Philly pitching again, only to have to rally late to secure the win.

We got going in the frista s usual, scoring one. Wells looked OK early. Bellhorn cranked a three run homer in the fifth to give us a 5-0 lead and it looked like it might be a laugher.

The Phillys got one in the fifth and we got one in the top of the sixth, then the wheels came off. Wells, who had earler singled for an RBI and scored, felt like he was getting sqeezed on some close pitches. He ended up giving up a homer and the Phillies had a four run inning and now it's a tight game.

Mantei came in and gave us a good inning but the luckless Embry came on and didn't get it done. He didn't get and out and error didn't help matters. Timlin came in and allowed two of Embry's runners to score and suddenly it's 8 all.

We go to the eight and we get a couple of runs, then Tek Cormirer deep for a four run lead and some breathing room. During the inning Timlin was pacing in the dug out like a caged tiger. He came out and pitched a good eighth and Foulke pitched a tight ninth and we got the win.

Manny continues to explode at the plate. This guy is on a TEAR. Plus, he threw out another base runner for his tenth outfield assist this season.
