Fool Manny once, shame on you, but don’t try it twice. After Manny popped up and the third baseman dropped the ball in foul , they went after him again. Manny took a might cut and didn’t miss, sending it high and long into the left field stands to give us a one run lead.
Enter Schilling, who had given up the tying run in the 8th, came in and shut them down striking out the dangerous Carl Evertt on a nasty splitter.
This one didn’t look good at the start. Evertt launched one to center in the first that just cleared the wall and Johnny’s leap. Clement was bitten by the long ball three times, and we were down 4-1. We were hitting Buehrle but leaving a lot of guys on. We finally got a couple in the 5th and 7th to break through.
Clement had trouble with his command all night. He missed badly numerous times, more so than I can remember this season. They all didn’t get hit, but enough did. Timlin came on and did the job in the seventh.
Bone Head play of the game… We pitch out on 2-2 and have the guy dead to rights. Renteria takes the throw and the runner stops and starts heading for first. Renteria never throws the ball to Millar for the easy out and the guy dives back to first and is safe. What the heack is up with that? I like the guy, but Renteria has not shown me that he is a consistent above average defensive player.
