Manny and the Wake

Timmy didn't look too good early. He gave up the three run homer to Stairs in the first and a solo shot in the 3rd. Then we got going. After a couple of walks Manny hit a laser beam to center for a three run homer.

Wake got himself righted and sent down 13 straight at one point. Wake didn't walk anyone and that may have been the key to success. We got three more in the seventh, with Manny picking up yet another RBI on a single.

Timlin and Schilling got their jobs done even though they allowed some base runners none of them scored.

It was a pretty crisp game, and we played well.

Bone Head play of the game: The Schilling balk. I don't know if he and Millar got signs mixed up or not but I'm glad he didn't throw to an empty first base.

Looks like the Sox are going to get Papelbon some work as a reliever in AAA and then bring him up for a stint in the pen. That'll give us two hard throwing rookies out there. I'm not saying either of them are he second coming of Dennis Eckersly, but that can't be any worse than a few of the guys we've had out there this year.
